✖️ Tables Dojo

Sixty-six facts, one belt at a time. Every belt teaches you a way to work the answer out before it asks you to remember it — and the wall below shows exactly which facts are solid and which still need you.

The belts

They open in order, because each one is built out of the ones before it. By the time you reach the sevens, almost every seven fact is already known from the other belts — only a handful will be new.

Your fact wall

All 66 facts. Grey means not met yet, red is shaky, amber means you know it but have to think, and green means it comes straight out in under three seconds. Tap any square to practise that one fact.

👨‍👩‍👧 For a grown-up

The facts she is actually getting wrong — worth five minutes together.

  • Nothing yet These appear once she has done a session or two.
Why this is different from the tables games

It remembers each fact separately. The games pick questions at random and keep only a high score, so a child can play them for weeks and still not know 6 × 7. The dojo keeps a record for all 66 facts — right, wrong, and how fast — so practice goes where the gaps actually are.

Speed is part of the test. Anything slower than three seconds is counted as worked out, not known. That is the difference between a child who can find the answer and one who has it.

It teaches a method before it drills. Each belt gives a way to derive the fact from an easier one — five lots and one more, double-double, ten take one away. She builds the array, counts it, and works it out before anything is timed.

New facts are folded in among known ones. A new fact is rehearsed against a growing run of facts she already has, roughly one unknown to nine known. That ratio retains better than straight drill and keeps her mostly succeeding.

The order is built, not alphabetical. ×2, ×10, ×5, ×4, ×3, ×9, ×11, ×6, ×8, ×7, ×12. Each belt only introduces facts whose other factor is already known, so the first belt adds one fact and the last adds eleven.
